Is That Implantation Bleeding Glow Community ?
How often have you been driven crazy by tiny drops of pink discharge in your panties just when you thought that you may be pregnant! Is it implantation bleeding or the beginning of your period? This is the eternal question.
Don’t worry. Glow has your back.
Implantation bleeding is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy: a small bit of bloody discharge that can occur when a fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall. Unfortunately, a lot of women have a hard time telling the difference between such bleeding and the start of their periods.
Wondering if it really IS implantation bleeding? Here are four conditions to keep in mind.
- Implantation bleeding resembles spotting. It does not get heavier as the days go by.
- Implantation bleeding usually lasts 1-2 days--much shorter than a regular period.
- Implantation bleeding usually occurs anywhere from 6 to 12 days past ovulation, assuming you had sex during your fertile window.
- Implantation bleeding is often pink or rusty brown. It is rarely red.
Of course, every woman's body is unique and every situation is different. Implantation bleeding is not universal among pregnant women at all. We asked Mamas if they experienced spotting or implantation bleeding prior to finding out that they were pregnant. Of the over 10,000 women polled, only 21% said they experienced spotting or implantation bleeding in early pregnancy. That means that 3 out 4 women polled got pregnant without noticing any type of bleeding at all!
Our conclusion? If you do notice a bit of bleeding, it could be a good sign. That said, not seeing any blood is nothing to freak out about….you could still very much be pregnant.
